Dolphin Identification

Ewan Miles of Sealife Surveys writes to say that the dolphins we've been seeing off Ardnamurchan are bottlenose dolphins, not common dolphins.  He writes,"Bottlenose dolphins are more of a coastal specialist with only around 50 identified in Hebridean waters."

Ewan has also given us a link to the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust who keep a record of bottlenose dolphins seen in Hebridean waters - it's here - and there's more about bottlenose dolphins here.

Meanwhile Kilchoan Early Bird has sent in this picture which shows conditions around the Ardnamurchan coast today.  To make matters worse, the temperature last night dropped as low as 5C - real winter conditions.

Many thanks to Ewan Miles and Kilchoan Early Bird.
