Many thanks to Les Humphries for sending the Diary these photos of a young Blackbird in his garden. Les says: "thought we had problems!". This may help to explain why Mrs Diary often finds ticks on her arms after picking raspberries - the blackbirds love the raspberries too.
I despise ticks but at least us humans are able to remove them. Poor blackie :(
