Hi Jon, what an intriguing ring. My first thought is that it looks very old, but does it have hallmarks or any other marks. It's so unusual it looks like it may be foreign. I'll be interested to see if anyone else makes any comments. Mary
Just had a look at the governments hallmark guidance notes and it may be that 'BMC' is the sponsors mark (maker)!! and 375 seems to indicate that it is a 9carot gold metal. This could be wrong but its all I could find on google. As you found it in a ditch id be worried about where the owner has gone.

ReplyDeleteHi Mary - Yes, it does have some sort of hallmarking, but all I can make out are three letters - something like BMC - and a number, 375. Jon
