This red admiral flying in a small piece of oak woodland at Mingary Castle this morning isn't the first butterfly we've seen this November - elsewhere, we've seen tortoiseshells and other red admirals. With the midday temperature today at 14C, last night's minimum at 8C, and a very warm, if wet month so far, little wonder they're in the air.
Will we see a Christmas butterfly, or is the temperature going to plunge in early December, as some long-range forecasts suggest?
