We were walking past the shop this morning when we noticed a grey heron working the shallows by the slipway, but then we saw....
....something beyond him on the rocks.
It was a young grey seal, couched on some soft seaweed, stretching every now and then, as if he was very relaxed and comfortable.
He didn't seem too bothered when we approached until we were within ten metres of him. We were concerned that he might be sick but, when we passed the place an hour later, after calling on Betsy and her new piglets - see earlier post - he had gone.
Correct me if I am wrong but this looks like an Atlantic Grey rather than the usual Common ( Harbour) Seals that frequent the skerries off Kilchoan?
