It was a pleasure this afternoon to walk down the Ormsaigbeg road to the shop in bright sunshine, and to see a selection of butterflies taking advantage of the weather. This is a female green veined white, one of several whites many of which were doing little else than bask in the sun.
The one red admiral on the wing seemed more interested in feeding on nectar, which is perhaps why it had its wings closed for most of the time. Red admirals are magnificent butterflies....
....but nothing beats the splendour of a peacock.
All the butterflies were in beautiful condition, presumably all the summer brood which face the long battle for survival through the winter.
Perfection.
ReplyDeleteNice series.
