Community Heritage Conference

The Ardnamurchan History and Heritage Association is providing a speaker at the Scottish Community Heritage Conference in Oban on 17th September, which draws people together to celebrate public archaeology, to showcase community-led projects, and to support those who are exploring their connections to the past.

We are attending as a member of Archaeology Scotland's 'Adopt a Monument' scheme. The two scheduled monuments  we have adopted are Cladh Chiarain at Camas nan Geall (above) and St Comghan's church. At Cladh Chiarain we've been clearing the graveyard of bracken so visitors can see the gravestones, and we're replacing the fence around it, while at St Comghan's we have just finished stabilising the south facade.

If anyone would like to join the conference, which is open to all, the link is here.
