Main Line Express to Kilchoan

It looks as if Kilchoan has its own rail line connecting it to the outside world, with regular services using locos and vintage rolling stock which would make those running the Jacobite green with envy. This picture shows the Duchess of Montrose leaving Kilchoan in front of a backdrop of the Sound of Mull, with Rubha nan Gall lighthouse and Beinn Tallaidh in the distance.

Regular freight services also now run along this line so packages and heavier items such a building materials can be collected at Kilchoan station. The line connects to the west coast main line, so passengers can easily access the rest of the rail network.

Sadly, this huge potential tourist attraction doesn't run along the Ardnamurchan peninsula. It's in Brian Culcheth's shed, and the rolling stock is the O gauge models which are Brian's pride. The scenery in the first two pictures is blown-up photographs which Brian took on one of his many stays in Kilchoan - he owns a house here which is available for rent, link here.

Many thanks to Brian for the photographs.
