Signs of Autumn

Yesterday's blog post reported that, on our walk, we came across a large herd of red deer hinds without any sign of a stag. Well, Kilchoan Early Bird went out and found the stags, which are all enjoying a holiday together at the beach.

One does wonder if this is some sort of stag do just before the rut starts.

The ling is in full flower on the hills. The bracken fronds are changing from green to copper and gold. The last of the swallows are on their way south, and the first skeins of geese are passing overhead. Except - someone needs to tell this lot that they're supposed to be flying south, not north.

Many thanks to Kilchoan Early Bird for stag picture.
