The campaign to have an emergency towing vessel based at Stornoway has been reignited after the Transocean Winner stranded on the west coast of Lewis. While an ETV would have been little use in the strandings of no less than three cargo ships within ten miles of Tobermory in the last ten years - including our own Lysblink Seaways - next time its proximity might avert an ecological disaster.
A petition to the UK parliament, which has responsibility for shipping, has been set up, and you can sign it here.
