Open Evening at the Fire Station

Everyone had a fantastic evening. Pat gave us a talk about what the fire crew wear for protection and the dangers they deal with when attending a road traffic accident.

As we watched the crew use the hydraulic cutting equipment he talked us through the process of why and how they might have to remove parts of a car to release a casualty.

Afterwards we were given the opportunity to practice CPR. The kids got stuck in, the youngest involved being Ben, 2 years old.

The children were then allowed in the fire engine with the lights and siren blaring. To say they loved it is an understatement.

Apparently the fire brigade is hoping to make this an annual event.
