This was dawn this morning at just before seven, looking almost east across Kilchoan Bay into the mouth of Loch Sunart. The colour lasted only a few minutes before fading to grey, so seeing it was a matter of luck.

But our luck wasn't in last night: we didn't see the spectacular aurora display that lit the skies over much of Britain between 6pm and midnight - see the AuroraWatch Flickr pictures here.

  1. Yes. It almost made up for missing the aurora.
What words cannot capture is the sublime peace of standing in front of such overwhelming colour.

  2. Just thought I'd add it's for a members profile

  3. Hi Jon

Not sure if my last message came through properly. ...I wondered if I could use the great PI c of dad / Don from Burnsall that you took for an article I'm writing (like a members profile) for the Pudsey Pacers.

Amazing picture of Kilchoan bay by the way

    Thank you

  4. Yes, please do use any pictures you like. All pictures which I take are copyright-free, but an acknowledgement would be appreciated - if appropriate. Jon

  5. Great shot, right time, right place and knowing ones camera. Fine photo.
