Tobermory Lifeboat in Action

We're not complaining about the weather today - despite a fairly strong westerly and some slushy snow and rain overnight we've seen some sun.  But what was a brisk breeze here was something rather different off Ardnamurchan Point, where a fishing boat, the Rambling Rose, (picture here), got into trouble around lunchtime today in a force eight gale and 7 metre swell.

The Tobermory lifeboat, the Elizabeth Fairleigh Ramsey, and the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter were sent to assist the trawler, which was taking on water following a leak and the failure of one of her two pumps.  In the event, the trawler's crew managed to get the pumps going and, escorted by the Tobermory lifeboat, made it back to still waters in the Sound of Mull - picture above.
