Pig Worries

Avid readers of these pages will know that The Diary's views on the pigs that moved in to Ormsaigbeg some months ago have varied. The early concern at their lowering the tone of this select neighbourhood was followed by amazement at their capacity to destroy bracken, and The Diary admits to being thrilled when the BBC came across from Edinburgh specially to film their ground-clearing activities (report here).

Today, when The Diary was hurrying down to the shop to complain at their dismal failure to send its daily paper with the Postie, it noticed that the amount of rubbish within the pigs' area seemed to have increased. Amongst other items, The Diary noticed these fine carrots, trodden into the mud. Either the pigs are being fed too well or they threw them at the Edinburgh television crew, which might explain why we still have no date for transmission of the programme.

However, of far more concern were this half bottle of whisky, empty, lobbed over the fence....

....and, amongst other trash littering the roadside, an empty can of Strongbow.

The Diary will, in the interests of maintaining the west end of the village, make arrangements for its daughter to clear up the mess, but it also humbly suggests that the owners of these animals should keep a closer check on their activities and, in particular, find out who has been selling alcohol to pigs which are obviously under age.
