Features of Geological Interest

For those readers who enjoy the wonderful geology of this area, here is a useful resource for finding some of the many and varied geological features with which Ardnamurchan abounds.

Rob Gill, who runs Geosec Slides, a small company based at Achnaha which makes rock thin sections, has pinpointed a number of places which are both worth a visit and are the source of some of the materials for his slides. They vary from locations which hold fossils including ammonites, belemnites and nautiloids, to igneous features such as dykes and sills, through to fine specimens of igneous and metamorphic rocks.

The locations are marked on a Google map. Follow the link here.
