Rob Gill, who runs Geosec Slides, a small company based at Achnaha which makes rock thin sections, has pinpointed a number of places which are both worth a visit and are the source of some of the materials for his slides. They vary from locations which hold fossils including ammonites, belemnites and nautiloids, to igneous features such as dykes and sills, through to fine specimens of igneous and metamorphic rocks.
The locations are marked on a Google map. Follow the link here.
