First Orchid

Finding the first orchid of the year really is the moment when one feels we are moving into summer.  Last year, the event occurred on 7th May, so we're a couple of days later this year.

This looks like a fragrant orchid, one of several growing in a group on the north bank of the Sanna Burn.  A little further to the east, near Carraig, the 'Cat's Face', we found the first heath orchids.
