Many thanks to May McNicol whose comment on yesterday's post pointed out that many of the yachts we saw crowded into Tobermory bay yesterday morning were taking part in the Round Mull race. They left the bay at 9.30 this morning, making a fine sight as they came out into the Sound of Mull.
The Balmoral came into the northern end of the Sound at three this afternoon. She entered service in 1949 and has been one of the Isle of Wight ferries as well as offering coastal excursions around the south coast of England. Like the Waverley, she now offers day trips around the coasts of Britain.
There's more about her here.
