Alaisdair 'Pinkie' Cameron was seventy yesterday.
Never let it be said that this community can't keep a secret. For weeks, everyone has known that Alaisdair's brother, Ian, and his family were organising a lunch party at the Community Centre to celebrate Pinkie's birthday, but he didn't know anything about it until he came through the door - picture shows the moment of realisation.
Proceedings started with a warm but humorous tribute from nephew John MacCallum, much of which centred on his uncles' enjoyment of a dram or two.....
....a speech which was greatly enjoyed by the crowd of some eighty who had come, not only from West Ardnamurchan but from much further afield. A second appreciation was given by neighbour Tom Bryson, who works closely with Pinkie as they hold adjoining crofts.
Guests were then treated to an excellent buffet meal which included a helping of birthday cake.
Many thanks indeed to the MacCallum family for their warm hospitality, and best wishes to Alaisdair for the next seventy.
