A few days ago The Diary was extremely worried about the state of buzzard life along Ormsaigbeg, which had dropped from a healthy population of four before the December storms to one solitary individual. He'd stopped flying high and giving his characteristic, mewling call; he spent his time wandering round a field forlornly looking for worms; and, when disturbed, he simply sat and looked at us.
All that has changed. As we walked back along the road yesterday there were three buzzards wheeling high above us; all were calling; and one we saw sitting by the road took off as soon as he spotted us.
We're thrilled, but the local mouse population is probably disgusted at developments.
Good news, lovely to hear.
