Special mention must go to Ian Cameron of Perth who returned to Kilchoan after an absence of nearly seventy - yes, seventy - years to sweep up all - yes, all - the yachting trophies in his Flying 15. See last Friday's post for the full story.
But behind every great event are the organisers, those who work all year to make the many happy. Top of the list of thanks is long-time chairman of the Regatta Committee, Keith Dennison....
....but there are a whole host more, of whom these two, Alasdair MacColl and Rosie Curtis, are excellent examples.
A few pictures here of the races. The Diary loves this one - the start of the Power Boat Race, with the eventual winner - driven by a 175 horsepower outboard - already going so fast it's almost out of the picture.
First prize for effort in the raft race must go to this beauty from the Gane family. Sadly, beauty isn't always functional: the Yellow Submarine overturned, tipping some fourteen crew and its captain into the drink.
These were the Raft Race winners. Ritchie Dinnes, the Captain from Kilmory, and crew, whose last-minute marine creation knocked together from polystyrene and a packing case snatched the trophy.
A brilliant day! Congratulations to both organisers and competitors! And great to see so many people come along to enjoy this super day.
Many thanks to Rosie Curtis and Alasdair MacColl for the pictures.
