Sails in the Sound

We had the pleasure of watching three tall masted sailing ships in the Sound during yesterday afternoon and evening. In light winds the Oosterschelde (left) and the TS Royalist performed a slow dance together off Tobermory, after which....

....the two made a stately passage northwest up the Sound - picture shows the Oosterschelde.

The Oosterschelde is a Dutch three-masted schooner built in 1918 which we last saw in the Sound in June 2015. The brig TS Royalist is a sail training ship launched in 2014 for the Marine Society and the Sea Cadets.

Shortly after six, the Lady of Avenel came down the Sound. She's seen here approaching Ardmore Point light.

We saw her in June when she berthed at Mingary pier for a time before heading north.
