Accident Closes B8007

An accident near Glenborrodale closed the B8007 this afternoon for nearly five hours. The two vehicles involved were a Calor Gas tanker, travelling towards Kilchoan, and the truck which collects the container of rubbish from Kilchoan tip. There were no injuries.

The accident happened at about 2.30pm, on the narrow section of road just to the west of Glenborrodale Castle, near the RSPB bird sanctuary. This section of road has always been a problem, but has recently been upgraded.

Fire & Rescue teams, including the Kilchoan brigade, attended the scene. Heavy lifting equipment had to be called in to clear the road.

    2. How true! I gather it turned in to a bit of a social get together and everyone enjoyed themselves catching up with friends!Yes There is an air Ambulance in reply to Sue so no worries there! But could this be an argument for an Air Ambulance like they have in Cornwall and Devon attached to the hospitals full time and terra - bound Ambulances are hardly seen in rural coastal areas supported by both government funding and local volunteer funding!

    3. Spent four hours in Salen Hotel as a result of the accident - unfortunately only drinking coffee! - I had been passed by both the speeding policemen as they left Strontian and knew they were in front of me! A more serious thought is that both the air ambulances were grounded last week, at the same time as the North Sea Oil helicopters. They may not have been available.
