An Empty Field

Secretly, stealthily, in the night, they were taken. Without warning, without giving any of their friends in Ormsaigbeg any chance to save them, they went. Those of us who loved them, mourn.

The seven have been taken on a long journey east, to a place where there's a man with a sharp knife and no mercy. Even as The Diary writes, they may already be chops destined for the freezers of the Kilchoan Pig Syndicate.

We particularly mourn Swinebolt - pictured here in his prime - the pig who, in the last few desperate days of his short life, did his best to save his friends by leading them in some daring escapes (see Diary entry here). They made their most audacious bid for freedom the other night, obviously knowing what was coming, but were captured and herded back into their muddy prison. Now they are gone....
