Stages of Dawn

7.19am. Dawn breaks across Ben Hiant, with the light at Mingary pier ready for the arrival of CalMac's morning ferry from Tobermory.

7.22am. First light begins to pick out the layers of hills on Morvern.

7.35am. The view down the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory, with Ben Talla in the distance.

8.15am. Sunrise, the only blemish in the sky being the remains of a jet's contrail.

After recent weeks of grey weather, we do deserve something a bit better, though there's been a keen southeasterly wind blowing all today. Those of us who've seen tomorrow's forecast have spent most of the day in our bikinis, enjoying the sun while it lasts.
