Pothole Action

The Diary met this hedgehog on the Orsmaigbeg road on Saturday, and he was a very angry hedgehog. He had just finished writing a letter to Highland Council Technical Services complaining about the state of our roads - and it was pretty strongly worded. "As if wandering Ardnamurchan's roads isn't bad enough already, with you lot whizzing around in your cars and not minding out for smaller road users like me, having the highway pockmarked with potholes makes my life a misery.

"The place is like a First World War battlefield, with bomb and shell craters all over the place filled with water. What to you is only a bad bump when you hit it in your car - at worst, a few quid on a repair - can be lethal to me. I fell in a flooded pothole the size of a hedgehog Olympic swimming pool the other day and couldn't get out. It was terrifying!"

Jac Crosbie, Secretary of West Ardnamurchan Community Council, has drafted a letter for everyone to send to Highland Council to complain about the potholes. Her post, with link to enable you to download the letter, is here.

If writing letters is the only way we'll get some action, then let's do it.

Your hedgehog has certainly got some good points...

    Sorry - I just couldn't resist that. :-)
