Military Movements

Two mine countermeasures vessels - they used to be called minesweepers - passed up the Sound this morning, HMS Koster M73 (above) and her sister ship HMS Kullen M74. Before you get too excited, they aren't Royal Navy ships but Swedish navy.

The same two ships passed down the Sound only a fortnight ago. It's good to know that, in the absence of our own Navy, our allies are keeping an eye on us.

Meanwhile, this military helicopter - it may be a Puma - attempted to overfly Kilchoan yesterday but was seen off by a flock of local seagulls.

The seagulls seem to be exceptionally bad-tempered at the moment, chasing anything that comes near the Ormsaigbeg beaches, particularly buzzards and crows.

  1. I think that is a Merlin helicopter?
