Sanna Fire - the Damage

This sad picture shows the extensive damage done by Friday night's fire.

Fire teams from Kilchoan, Acharacle, Strontian, Lochaline, Mallaig, Fort William and Kinlochleven fought the fire. The last team left at about 4.00pm yesterday, some twenty hours after the outbreak.

The story in the village is that the cause of the fire was a faulty chimney which allowed a spark to enter the roof space, where it set fire to the wool insulation.

  1. That must be so heartbreaking, hope they had insurance - though all reports seem to show insurance companies trying to get out of their responsibilities.
