Ringed Bird

Some weeks ago, Nan MacLachlan found a ring attached to the foot of a dead bird. The ring had a reference number, so we were able to contact the Ringing Team at the BTO, website here. They have now written back to us, and the following is part of their letter:

Thank you for taking the time to report to us details of a bird ring you found. Information about this bird and its movements is given below.
Ringing Scheme:London Ring Number:R73660 Species of bird:Guillemot
This bird was ringed by Treshnish Isles Auk R.G. as age at least 2 years, sex unknown on 29-Jun-2007 at Lunga, Treshnish Isles, Argyll and Bute
OS Map reference NM2741, co-ordinates 56deg 29min N 6deg 26min W.
It was found on 17-Dec-2011 at Kilchoan, Highland
OS Map reference NM4763, co-ordinates 56deg 41min N 6deg 8min W.
The bird was Freshly dead
It was found 1632 days after it was ringed, 29 km from the ringing site, direction NE.
