The Diary would not normally carry a story like this, but this is so uncharacteristic of this area, so unusual, disappointing and mean-spirited - particularly at this time of year - that it hopes its readers will understand why it has made an exception.
Strontian Police have issued the following appeal -
"On Monday, 17th December, believed to be between 15.30 and 18.00 hours, a quantity of 29 x 25kg bags of Blue Circle cement in waterproof yellow/blue bags was stolen from Salen. The bags of cement were on a pallet positioned at the side of the B8007 Kilchoan to Salen road at the point at the west end of Salen between the cattle grid and Rodney George's shellfish plant. Police are appealing for information about the theft from anyone who was travelling anywhere along the B8007 on Monday 17th, or anyone travelling past this locus or in the Ardamurchan area, and who saw people or vehicles in suspicious circumstances. Please contact the Police, either on 01967 402 022 or anonymously through Crimestoppers Scotland on 0800 555 111."
We need concrete evidence to put the thief away. I'll bet he's bricking it that he might get caught.
ReplyDeleteIm sure this will be a hard one to crack.
ReplyDeleteYou don't want to be mixing with those types!
ReplyDeleteThe big problem is they have no concrete evidence to go on!!
ReplyDeleteSad thing was the cement belonged to a young local man who is building a house for himself and his family. I hope the thieves are ashamed with themselves and will replace the stolen Items, Tho some hope! But at least local police officers are trying their best to find the culprits!
