Yeoman Bontrup in November 2009
I'm not sure if the weather is helping or hindering the salvage operation. We've had some heavy rain in the last 24-hours, which may help damp down any remaining fires, but the winds here in Kilchoan reached Force 8 around 9am this morning. And is there any significance in the fact that the Yeoman Bontrup has disappeared from the AIS site? If it hasn't sunk, is it aground? The AIS site is a super way to track shipping around the UK coast.
Nice to see this being reported. Heres a link to her last know position according to her AIS (which is now off)

I help run the above site and forums, any more info just ask
The Yeomans AIS has been off since 19.30hrs yesterday, this will probably be down to the vessel having no power at all, all generators etc will have been switched off and any shoreside power will have been cut too while the fire was being tackled
ReplyDeleteI sailed past the ship late on Saturday and there was no suggestion or indication of her sinking. Although she was producing a lot of smoke driven by an exceptionally strong southerly wind, she looked secure, upright and not at all down in the water.
