One Lucky Duck

It's the time of year when everything literally comes to life. You can't help feeling that nature knows it only has a few months to pack in as much growth as possible while its warm and sunny and the days are long. And so to the story of the lucky duck.

The MacLachlans have ducks that live happily on the shores of Kilchoan Bay foraging for food on the salt marshes and two of the ducks had together laid 13 eggs. Ten hatched into little ducklings and that seemed to be the end of it, so everyone moved on leaving three eggs to be eaten by whatever happened upon them. Luckily for one duckling it was Stella Cash who was first on the scene to see a tiny duckling emerging from a shell looking lost and lonely. Stella, who, with her husband Dave, runs Meall mo Chridhe, was the first thing that the duckling saw so she is now mum.

The duckling is living the life of luxury at Meall mo Chridhe, growing up fast and following people around chirping cheerfully as it goes.
