Pig Chaos in Ormsaigbeg

It's one of the piglets' big days today - the day they are weaned.  To do this, owner Hughie had to separate the piglets from the sow, leaving the sow in the run; the piglets, to the huge relief of everyone in Ormsaigbeg, are going to Kilchoan and, hopefully, staying there.

The first problem on arrival was that the piglets, being, as usual, out on the rampage, came up to the road to meet Hughie's van, and had to be chased by Hughie's son Stuart - who seems to act as the equivalent of a sheepdog - back into their run.

'Plan 1' to get the piglets into the trailer, leaving the sow behind, was for Stuart to chase them in.  Stuart has huge amounts of energy, and tried valiantly, but the piglets aren't stupid.  They like it here in Ormsaigbeg, where they have a free run of all the fields and the prospects of The Diary's vegetable garden.

'Plan 2' seemed to be a combination of coaxing and herding.  Every combination was achieved.  For example, sow and one piglet in the trailer, seven piglets out....

...one piglet in, four being herded by Stuart, and three watching warily from a safe distance.

Finally, by a miracle rather than good management, eight piglets were in the trailer, but in the ensuing excitement one of the piglets got its head caught in the trailer gate, and its screams (and piglets DO scream)....

....caused the sow to bolt down the track towards the beach, hotly pursued by Hughie, who tried to grab her by the ears to haul her back - which, needless to say, caused Hughie to be dragged down the track until he let go.

The sow disappeared.  Some time later she was spotted walking up the road, possibly heading for the common grazings and the Lighthouse.  There was some talk of letting her go, of turning the boar loose and breeding feral piglets up on the common grazings but, finally,....

....the sow was persuaded to return to her pen by the prospect of a bucketful of pignuts.

So the piglets have left Ormsaigbeg.  The pressure group Pigs Out of Ormsaigbeg is being wound down.  The sow's still here, but....  If Hughie brings the boar up here, which is what he's threatening, that means.... more piglets!
