Dolphins & Puffins

This is turning into an exceptional year for wildlife spotting off the shores of West Ardnamurchan.  These pictures, taken by The Raptor, show dolphins playing in Kilchoan Bay last Tuesday.

Staffa Tours have reported a group of over a hundred dolphins to the north of Tiree,...

....and more than the usual number of orcas, basking sharks and minke whales.

Here's a super picture of a puffin, taken on Lunga on one of the Staffa Tours trips that leave Kilchoan pier each day.  If the puffin looks a little worried, who can blame it, with a Raptor at the other end of the lens?

Staffa Tours' website is here.
Many thanks to The Raptor for the photographs.

How lucky you are to live is such a special place for wildlife. Dolphins are such amazing creatures. Nothing more spooky than watching a wild dolphin up close as they are actually watch you! Ricky's puffin looks a bit on the thin side. I have had that said about some of my shots from the east coast(Farnes and Bass Rock). Lack of sand eels, a young or old bird or just the camera angle?

  2. That's a great picture of the Puffin. Good control of the depth of field really makes it. Nice job Raptor!
