We haven't seen the sunrise for a week or so, just a steady lightening of the cloud cover, so it was good to wake this morning to a clear sky. Dawn was at exactly 8.33, and the sun came up across the hills of Morvern noticeably further to the east. The small birds, after a cold night - a frost had frozen their drinking water - were queueing patiently for breakfast.
The later sunrise wasn't the only sign of approaching spring. When we walked down to the shop, two red-breasted merganser males were showing off to their females by chasing each other around the shallows in Kilchoan Bay. There's more about them here.
