The Tides at Sanna

A physics lesson about how the tides work is normally taught in a dusty classroom or lecture theatre to a group of half-asleep students.  In contrast, Anna Wright ran her lesson on the tides on Sanna beach in Thursday evening's glorious sunshine.

This is the first of four workshops Anna is running for Kilchoan Learning Centre under the general heading of physics.  In the picture, she is described by The Diary's correspondent as 'doing something complicated with a beach ball'.

This picture shows Helen Ferguson representing the sun, with the planets revolving around her.

Anna was described as having done 'an amazing job of explaining how the tides work'.  It was 'an excellent evening which ended with a few snacks round a bonfire'.  There's an opportunity to join in, with three more Physics Workshops to come - details here.

Many thanks to Trevor Potts for pictures and story.  Trevor runs the Ardnamurchan Campsite.
