A Walk down the West End

These pictures were taken by Julie Allcock on a walk she took down the West End of the village on Sunday. The West End is Ormsaigbeg, where seagulls guard the field gates to keep intruders at bay.

In her email accompanying the pictures, Julie commented on the profusion of wildflowers. It does seem to be a good year for them, these thistles bringing a smile to the faces of the local goldfinch population, for whom the seeds are a favourite food.

This super picture shows a rocky bank at the side of the road with what The Diary thinks is a mixture of sedum and wild thyme.
