Late Autumn Activity

The last two days have, by our current standards, been a little on the grey side, and early yesterday afternoon, as we were walking along the track to the east of Ockle, some wet stuff fell from the sky - I believe it may be called rain, but, since we have returned from our African trip, we haven't seen any of it.

To make up for this slight aberration, the sun rose in full splendour over Ben Hiant this morning....

....having cleared away the clouds by late yesterday evening: this is the road by Achnashee, the croft house just visible on the left.

To add to the naval ships seen in the Sound the last few days, we've had some representatives of foreign navies. This is the German mine hunter Rottweil, and....

....this is the Norwegian Hinnoy. Look closely and you'll see that she is an unusual design, having twin hulls - closer picture of her here.

They were all taking part in an international exercise called Joint Warrior 102, details here. We've seen the small ships - it would be good to see some of the larger ones.
