The Diary went rushing down to the pig run yesterday afternoon on seeing Hughie back up his trailer, in the hope that the news was that the pigs were being removed to Kilchoan. But ecstatic celebrations in Ormsaigbeg were abruptly cancelled on hearing that the pigs, having done a great job of clearing the run of bracken, were only being moved a short distance down the hill into a new area. Nevertheless, The Dairy hung around to ensure that the electric fence was properly set.
That's the visiting lady pig who is showing typical reluctance in being loaded into the trailer. She's been named Scarlet for what she's done to Betsy and Bobby's happy relationship.
Having loaded the pigs and taken down the electric fence, Hughie hitched the trailer to the pig's matrimonial home and dragged it down the hill into the new area of bracken which they have to clear. Afterwards he was telling The Diary what a great machine his Ford pickup was, and The Diary did agree that it went very well downhill.
Once the electric fence had been set up, Hughie unloaded the pigs. That's him talking to Betsy, who has had a pretty torrid time the last few weeks. The Diary has been woken up in the early hours on several occasions in the last few weeks with the fights that have been going on.
The only part of the operation that gave The Diary any satisfaction was when Hughie tried to get his pickup back up the hill - and couldn't. He finally made it after several tries, which is a pity as, otherwise, Betsy could have moved into the cab and enjoyed a bit of Ford luxury.
