Extremes

Sticking out into the Atlantic as it does, West Ardnamurchan well knows what rotten weather looks like.  But looking at something from another angle can give a rather different perspective.  NASA does an 'Astronomy Picture of the Day' which The Diary follows daily.  As a change from the usual stunning pictures of galaxies, star clusters, auroras and suchlike, yesterday's entry was a timelapse video, taken from space, of Superstorm Sandy as the hurricane worked its way up from the Caribbean to the US east coast.  The link is here.

On a slightly different note, there are two interesting interviews with adventurer Trevor Potts on seakayakpodcasts.com, here.  They're each an hour, so put some time aside for them, but they're well worth a listen, particularly the crossing of the Bering Strait and Trevor's encounter with an Alaskan  lady who threatened to shoot him.  Trevor runs the Ardnamurchan Campsite.

CalMac's Clansman sails up the Sound of Mull this morning.
