It's a Pig's Life

Mum and Dad pig now have a constant stream of visitors.  Some people just come to look at them, some people talk to them, some people pat them on the head and tell them what beautiful animals they are, most people take photographs, and a few even feed them.  Nobody ignores them.  The only thing that surprises The Diary is that their owner hasn't put up a sign saying "Hughie's Safari Park" and started charging people for a chance to interact with his pigs.

They're doing a great job on the bracken.  For piggish reasons they've started at the outside of their run and are working their way towards the centre.  The area that's been most thoroughly cleared is immediately opposite our gate, probably because it's there that they get the most attention.

The happy couple - they only argue occasionally but, unfortunately, noisily - have had two families.  The first went en route to its maker today, to return as neatly packaged cuts on Sunday.  The second, which started as a batch of ten but Hughie sold two, is on display near Kilchoan Fire Station.  And now Mum is well on her way to producing a third.

If they look a bit pinker than a normal pig it's because Kilchoan's summer has been so fine they've enjoyed a lot of sunbathing.  What with all the attention, regular meals, a magnificent 25-mile view from their residence, and days spent at leisure, The Diary is becoming somewhat envious of a pig's life.
