This red light fixed to the end of Kilchoan Community Centre is the only visible evidence of a number of recent improvements to our emergency health provisions. It's there to guide Scottish Ambulance Service's medivac helicopters to the community playing field for night landings, something they were, until recently, unable to do. Previously, all night-time medivac services were provided by RAF, RN or Coastguard helicopters. More about Air Ambulance services
here.
As reported by the Diary,
here, West Ardnamurchan now has six fully trained First Responders. More are needed. There is another chance for volunteers to join the team, with training scheduled for 13th & 14th November. Anyone interested please contact Rosie Curtis on 510 754.
