Warblers

The small warblers which skulk around in the undergrowth are difficult to photograph, so it was a surprise when this one was unusually co-operative. It may be because it was a young one....

....waiting for mum or dad to come by with some food.

I think they're willow warblers, which seem to be the most common warblers around here.

This one advertised his presence to all the world by sitting on the power line at the back of the house and singing at the top of his voice. It's a whitethroat, the first we'd seen this year.

I think this warbler, with the very pronounced white stripe over its eye, is a sedge warbler. He was singing in the reed bed just to the east of the shop.
