Dawn Before the Storm

Kilchoan Early Bird sends us this photograph of this morning's dawn seen "from the west" as he describes it. I think it was taken at Grigadale, with Loch Grigadale in the foreground - please correct me if I'm wrong.

We were at the shop a few minutes later, with the sun about to find a way through the clouds. The building is Shore Cottage, headquarters of the Regatta committee on Regatta Day, which does now seem a long time ago.

The wind at that time was in the southeast so the bay was relatively sheltered. Even so, a sharp chop was coming in at the slipway. As the day progressed the wind rose and went steadily round into south and then further into the west, and increased, so by lunchtime we had a force 6 to 7 gusting to gale 8 and driving, cold rain.

To cheer us in the run-up to Christmas the Bird has sent this portrait of a ewe face down in the sand, which may be the reason....

....a pair of eagles were hanging around.

Many thanks to Kilchoan Early Bird for the pictures.
