Supermoon

We didn't have much of a chance to see the full moon rise yesterday evening as it was cloudy but by the early hours it was visible. A full moon, however unusually big, doesn't look particularly exciting when it's high in the sky, so photographing it wasn't much use - not until it was setting this morning.

The first two pictures come from John Maughan on board the Raasay this morning when it sailed from Mingary Pier for Tobermory.

At about the same time, Kilchoan Early Bird was watching the moon from near Ardnamurchan Point lighthouse as it was setting into the Atlantic.

Many thanks indeed to John and to KEB for the pictures.
