Rural Watch

At last Monday's Community Council meeting, PC Angie Campbell, who is based in Strontian, urged everyone to join Rural Watch, which is being rolled out across Ardnamurchan this year.

The purpose of the scheme is to help combat and prevent criminal activity within rural communities like ours by establishing and developing trust and communication pathways between us and Police Scotland. Rural Watch encompasses estates, farms, rural businesses, and domestic and holiday properties.

In the event of any ongoing potential criminal activity, local police will communicate relevant details to members of the scheme via text message and/or email. Members are also asked to be vigilant in noting details of any suspicious persons, activites or vehicles in their locality and contacting Police Scotland on 101, from where information would be forwarded to our local police station.

To be as effective as possible, it is important that as many as possible sign up to it. If you wish to be part of the Rural Watch scheme please take a few minutes to complete a form and return it either to angela.campbell@scotland.pnn.police.uk or post it to PC A. Campbell, Strontian Police Station, Strontian, PH364HZ.

Full details of the local scheme are available for download here, and the form is here.
