Bird Photographs Insects

Kilchoan Early Bird has been out photographing insects, and sends this super photo of a golden ringed dragonfly, Cordulegaster boltonii.

If I were the fly, I'd be worried, but perhaps damselflies don't take flies.  I'm willing to hazard a guess that the damselfly is a beautiful demoiselle, as is....

....this one.  The difference in colour may be that the first is a female and this one is a male.

This butterfly is a small heath.  There aren't many butterflies around at the moment, though we had the small tortoiseshell in the garden on Monday and a few whites have been coming through on the breeze, but we've seen quite a few small heaths, so perhaps it's their time of year.
