We had never seen a lesser redpoll until a pair appeared in our garden back in the middle of May of this year - see post
here. They spent their time hopping around on the ground or, very briefly, coming up onto the wall where most of the bird seed is laid out. Then they disappeared.
A few days ago this one came visiting. He took a much bolder approach, settling himself on one of the peanut feeders and enjoying a hearty meal from it. He looked very much at home, and we hoped he would become a regular visitor. We haven't seen him since.
