With the lengthening of the nights we move into the season when we begin to see the northern lights. The first visible display happened on Sunday night, and was recorded from Mull by Ewan Miles. His picture looks from Mull across the Sound to Ardnamurchan.
There's a full report from Ewan here, with more pictures and a section about the changes that are happening with the sun's magnetic field, and what that means - it's well worth a read.
Many thanks to Kilchoan Early Bird and Ewan Miles for the photos.
Ewan's blog is here.
