Faced with the prospect of yet another fine day, we drove over to Sanna yesterday afternoon to have lunch by the sea followed by a walk over the hills towards Plocaig.
The car park at Sanna was almost full but, as always, people seemed to disappear along the multiple, white-sand beaches and into the hills, so we ate lunch undisturbed on this little beach. We then walked for some three hours - more a wander than a walk - and only saw two other people: they were inspecting the ruined buildings at Plocaig.
We did have some rain yesterday, a couple of spits in the wind during the morning, nothing like enough to wet a blade of grass. When we walked across the hills, the ground underfoot crunched. As a result, we were able to access places which are usually far too boggy, like the banks of the Sanna Burn. Normally, the burn is difficult to cross, but in the present drought it's reduced to little more than a trickle - photo shows the stepping stones and fording point near Plocaig.
