Can anyone help to identify this object, found on an Ormsaigbeg croft? It's iron, about 4" (10cm) long, with a hole in it where the metal has been pushed down.
The reverse side is flat, and the metal is about 3mm thick.
A plate from a pulley block is a possibility, right size but it's a bit of a strange shape; also the hole isn't round. It's the right shape to be a hoe but I think it's too small. One of the mysteries is the way there's a flange turned down on one side of the hole.
But thanks for the help - any further suggestions much appreciated.
Possibly a plate from a pulley block?

This is purely a guess - could it be the head from an old hoe?
